Evil Spirits and Demons and Fallen Angels
Evil Spirits and Demons and Fallen Angels Podcast
What Are These Evil Spirits, Fallen Angels or Demons?
There is a dark side to the spirit world. There are evil spirits known as demons or fallen angels. These evil spirits are out to destroy mankind. They can influence the minds of man. They all have different roles and some are more powerful than others. If a person is strong enough to overcome one of the demons, the demon may go out to gather others and come back for another attack.
Acts 19:11-19, ‘So remarkable were the miracles worked by God at Paul’s hands that handkerchiefs or aprons which had touched him were taken to the sick, and they were cured of their illnesses, and the evil spirits came out of them.
But some itinerant Jewish exorcists tried pronouncing the name of the Lord Jesus over people who were possessed by evil spirits; they used to say, ‘I command you by the Jesus whose spokesman is Paul’. Among those who did this were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest. The evil spirit replied, ‘Jesus I recognize, and I know who Paul is, but who are you?’ and the man with the evil spirit hurled himself at them and overpowered first one and then the another, and handled them so violently that they fled from that house naked and badly mauled. Everybody in Ephesus, both Jews and Greeks, heard about this episode; they were all greatly impressed, and the name of the Lord Jesus came to be held in great honor.
Some believers, too, came forward to admit in detail how they had used spells and a number of them who had practised magic collected their books and made a bonfire of them in public. The value of these was calculated to be fifty thousand silver pieces.’
In the region beyond Ephesus magical practices were flourishing in the mid first century CE as evidenced by archaeological remains and (near) contemporary records. Those Archaeological remains include magic table, instruments and amulets from Pergamum and additional amulets from Smyrna. Contemporary records include several magical inscriptions found on papyri and pottery fragments (C. E. Arnold, Ephesians: Power and Magic. The Concept of Power in Ephesians in Light of Its Historical Setting (Grand Rapids: Baker, 1992)
I had an encounter with three demons one time. In my case, I had reached a point in my spiritual growth that by the grace of God, and the strength that He had given me, I became under attack by three very powerful demons. At the time, I wasn’t aware that there were three of them, I just knew that whatever it was, it was trying to get me to fall, to lose my spirituality as they had done to others in the past.
This battle went on for a year and a half. I didn’t think that it was ever going to end. Then one night as I was laying in bed contemplating on God, three demons came through the door and right up to my face. They were pale in color, they had black oval eyes, a huge mouth and they had long pointed teeth that overlapped each other.
They kept coming up to my face snapping their teeth at me. I showed them no fear, quite frankly, they didn’t bother me at all because I knew that I was under the protection of God. After a few minutes, they took off and I have never seen them again. I continued praying to God and also wondering what that was all about.
A few months later, the Holy Spirit wanted me to study the Book of Revelation. When I came to this one scripture, it just blew me away. Revelation 16:12-14, ‘Then from the jaws of dragon and beast and false prophet I saw three foul spirits come; they looked like frogs and in fact were demon spirits, able to work miracles, going out to all the kings of the world to call them together for the war of the Great Day of God the Almighty.’
If I had to pick a creature to reference these demons to, I would side with John and say that they looked like frogs as well because of the way their mouth was and their eyes. After that night that they paid me a visit, things were peaceful again. The battle was over for now.
“When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first. (Matthew 12:43)
“Exorcism” is a ritual that takes place to try an expel an evil spirit from a person or a place like a home or a building. Seeking out demons can be very dangerous because a person that is not rooted in God will have no defense against this enemy. Anyone that is rooted in God should have enough sense to not challenge a demon or Satan himself because of the serious consequences that could arise.
For one, Satan does not want people to know about him or believe that he exists. The people that don’t believe are the easiest ones to influence because they have no deep knowledge of what is good and what is evil. So, in reality, these people may not be living a good life after all. They may be deceiving them self into thinking that they are a good person which can cause their pride to dominate their soul instead of humility. They will have no idea that they are even being influenced by an evil spirit.
This is Satan’s best tactic to destroy the souls of man. Some people are so influenced by a demon or evil spirit that when they die and their soul returns to God, the demon is left behind and continues to carry on the person life in the spirit world. This is why some houses or buildings have what they call a haunting. They take advantage of people that fear them because they lack faith, they have no strength to do battle with them.
Even though I have used some scripture in my article, I find that what I have used is credible because of the many witnesses stated in these scriptures. No one refutes that these people did not exist. For instance, here is proof that Saul of Tarsus who later converted and changed his name to Paul (apostle) – www.harvardhouse.com/apostle_paul.htm . The Bible is also a record of timely events that have been documented and many have been proven through archaeology. History has been recorded since man has existed. They teach in schools about people, places, and things.
We could all deny believing in any type of history that they teach simply by saying that, “I was not alive when that happened or when that so-called person was alive, so why should I believe in it?” With all the film documentary and eye witness accounts of the Holocaust that took place during World War II, there are still people today that deny it ever took place. We can always keep an open mind to what we hear and believe in it if it sounds logical, but if we want to know the real truth, then we have to seek it for our self.

Seek The Truth In Jesus Christ and Leave Satan’s World Behind
This is a quote from the article “The Free Will Of Man”, where it says, “Man can choose to do right or wrong, such as, what to eat, how to dress, what to say, where to go, how to live and what or who to worship”.
When one chooses to accept Jesus Christ with their heart, they’re looking to change their life. They new something was missing and now they have found it. Their life suddenly has meaning and they want to follow Jesus and do what it takes to walk with Him. The main thing is to learn how to change one’s life so they can be pleasing to God in His eyes. When we have that one on one relationship with Jesus, He begins to show us what we need to do to overcome sin in our life.
We follow Him down that long and narrow road with our cross on our shoulder seeking truth. Once you reach a certain point in your walk with Jesus, He will, just as He says in John 14: 15 – 17, ‘ If you love me you will keep my commandments. I shall ask the Father, and He shall give you another Advocate to be with you forever, that Spirit of truth whom the world can never receive since it neither sees nor knows Him; but you know Him, because He is with you, He is in you.
This is the transformation from carnal to spiritual. Your spiritual eyes open and suddenly you see the world in a whole new outlook. This is the new creation (one’s true identity) that Paul talks about. You are reborn and now you are a little child ready to grow into a mature, spiritual adult.
Seeing the world through spiritual eyes you know that this is not God’s world or the world that He meant it to be. You see Satan’s world, man’s world, madness, insanity and you realize that this not the reality of God. What one begins to see and know is truth, something that the world cannot see or understand.
The one thing about carnal ( man’s false identity ), is that that is all it sees and knows. It wants to live for the world, by the world and for itself. Man lives as a slave to the world. You could actually call this kind of living “Self-destruction”. Most will never get to know their spiritual side while living in the world.
The carnal self seeks the things of the world which are only temporary. It seeks happiness in the world and the happiness it finds is only temporary. Man has to keep finding ways to amuse himself over and over again, even in his thoughts. He might think back of a vacation he once went on or just daydream about something pleasant. There is no lasting happiness or peace in this world. Aman that is a slave of the world is doomed, it is self-destrustion.
We normally don’t take the things of the world and analize them, for example: Going out to dinner. We like to go out to dinner, but how can we turn this into a bad thing? Let’s say we planned this a couple of days in advance and we’re really looking forward to going out.
So, first of all, what caused you to decide to go out to dinner in the first place? Do you need a little enjoyment? Was it boredom? A T.V. commercial that’s running a special on one of your favorite foods? Could be we hunger for a certain food to please out taste buds? It doesn’t matter what triggered it, but this is what you would call the start of a carnal high being born.
Up until the time you make it to the restaurant, you find yourself thinking about the time you are going to have and the food you are going to eat. Some of us can’t wait to get to the restaurant. One thinks about what they’re going to order and pictures themselves eating the dinner they ordered. Sometimes to the point where you can almost taste the food. As one thinks about these things, it put us in a happy mood.
Finally you make it to the restaurant, you grab a menu and now it is time to make a decision. Oh boy, everything looks so good on here, I wish I could order it all. You place your order and in a little while out comes the dinner that you been thinking about for days. You start to eat and you savor the flavor of every bite. Now your done and you leave the restaurant. While your on the way home your talking to your company about what a great dinner that was. The next day comes and that dinner you had comes to mind and you smile and think about it all over again.
I’m not saying that it is a sin to go out to dinner, but what I am saying is that sin can be born from it. Pride (self) is the mother of all sin. What I gave as an example was is what you call lust. Pride gave birth to lust and lust grew and became self-indulgence. You use this word all the time in commercials and at restaurants, mainly when they advertise a dessert. They say something like, “We have a quadruple chocolate cheese cake, so come and indulge yourself”.
One can lose their sobriety and become drunk with lust in many different ways. This is basically what the bible talks about when they use the words sober and drunk. Sober in other words meaning temperance, moderation. Drunk on the other hand meaning that one over indulged, acquired too much…
Humility is the key to overcoming pride. Pride is when one puts oneself first, this is Satan’s world and man’s world. Humility is when one puts God first, then others and to be honest with you, one that is humble doesn’t usually think about themselves at all.
Jesus is here for us, He wants to help us make that union with God again. But it’s going to take everything we have to fight and overcome ourselves and the darkness that lies within us. Jesus is the Light, the Way, the Truth and Life. It’s up to us to have the desire, the willingness, the courage, the faith and the ability to put our trust in Jesus Christ, Our Savior, Our Big Brother and Our Best Friend. We have to have faith and trust in Him without any worries, fears or doubts. Are you ready to pick up your Cross and follow Him all the way back to God?
